Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian National Assembly

Founding member of Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Union, and MP since 1990.  

Since 2014, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of Hungary and deputy floor leader of the Fidesz Parliamentary Group. In the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), since 2021 he chairs the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy and is Vice- Chairman of the European Conservatives Group. From 2014 he leads the Hungarian delegation.  

Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee between 2002 and 2010; Parliamentary State Secretary in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1998-2002 and in 2010-2014.  

Member of the Knight’s Order of the Johannites.  

Studies: M.A. in Economics and Sociology at the Karl Marx (Corvinus) University of Economic Sciences at Budapest in 1987. He studied political science at the Oxford University St. Anthony’s College as a visiting student between 1988-89. 

Married with three children.
