István BALOGH has been Hungary’s Permanent Representative on the North Atlantic Council at NATO since January 2023. He served as Deputy State Secretary for Security Policy and Political Director of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade between 2018 and 2022. Before that he used to be the Security Policy Director of the Ministry between 2014 and 2018. His work experience includes working at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs as an analyst on US affairs and security issues as well as teaching security related subjects at the National University of Public Service in Budapest. He has a PhD in Political Science with an emphasis in Security Studies.
