Igli HASANI
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania
As of September 2023, Igli Hasani is the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. Previously, he held the post of Coordinator for Economic and Environmental Activities within the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) between 2021 and 2023.
Mr. Hasani also served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Albania to the International Organizations in Vienna from 2018 to 2021.
In 2019, Hasani led the Mediterranean Contact Group, part of the OSCE Troika. During the Albanian Presidency chairmanship of the OSCE in 2020, he held the position of Chairman of the organization’s Permanent Council. In 2021, he served as Chairman of the Asian Partners for Co-operation Group.
Hasani’s work experience in the Ministry of Defence spans 17 years (2001 – 2018), holding several senior management positions.
Mr. Hasani studied at the University of Tirana, completing degrees near the Faculty of Social Sciences for Philosophy -Sociology and the Faculty of Law, followed by a Master’s degree in International Relations near King’s College, London. He also acquired several high professional qualifications from institutions such as the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom and the Marshall Centre in Germany, among others.
