Former Ambassador and Deputy High Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Marianne Berecz was previously a Hungarian career diplomat who held various bilateral and multilateral diplomatic posts in the MFA in Budapest and overseas between 1981 and 1999. From December 1999 until January 2003, she served as deputy head of the Security Policy and Arms Control Department. After this, she was appointed the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary and head of mission at the Permanent Mission of Hungary to the OSCE in Vienna. Between August 2007 and December 2012, Marianne Berecz was involved in many aspects of Hungarian diplomacy as in her capacity as director of Second and First European Departments in the MFA and as senior adviser at the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs. In January 2013, she joined the OSCE Mission to Skopje where she served as Deputy Head of Mission until January 2016. After this she worked as a senior research fellow at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In her last assignment she worked as deputy high representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina and head of Banja Luka Regional Office of the OHR from December 2016 to the beginning of October 2022.
