Thomas Stölzl works as the head of the Southeast Europe Unit at the Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe and International Affairs. Prior to his career in public service, he graduated with a Magister iuris in Law from the University of Vienna before undertaking a graduate diploma at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna. After his studies, Thomas Stölzl worked in various capacities at the European Commission and at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the European Union. He has held several foreign postings, including at the Austrian Embassies in Prague, Washington D.C., and Sofia. Since 2018 he has worked at the Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe and International Affairs, serving as the head of the EU-Institutions and Institutional Affairs Unit and the Deputy Director for European Affairs before starting his current position.
