Johannes Swoboda was a member of the European Parliament from 1996 to 2014. During this time, he focused on Southeast Europe, Central Asia, Russia, the Middle East and North Africa.  Swoboda was President of the S&D Group at the European Parliament from 2012 to 2014. Today he works with several European foreign policy institutes, including as President of the International Institute for Peace (Vienna). He is also affiliated with the Sir Peter Ustinov Institute (Vienna), Architekturzentrum Wien (Vienna), the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, Fachhochschule Campus Wien, and Denk.Raum.Fresach.  He also currently serves as a board member at the Bruno Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue (Vienna) and A Soul for Europe (Berlin). He is a regular speaker at international conferences.
