Daniel Smilov is a political scientist and a specialist in comparative constitutional law. Currently, he serves as both the Programme Director of the Center for Liberal Strategies, Sofia and Associate Professor of Political Theory at the Department of Political Science at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He holds doctorates from the Central European University in Budapest (SJD, 1999) and the University of Oxford (DPhil, 2003). He has held positions at Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley and the European University Institute, Florence. He is the author of several academic publications in English on   constitutional law, the financing of political parties and anti-corruption policy. He has also published numerous articles in the Bulgarian press and periodicals.
