Representative to Hungary 

Michael Winzer, born in 1979, studied economics and business administration at the University of Hohenheim (Germany) and Gothenburg University (Sweden) and graduated in 2006 (Dipl. Oec.).

He then joined Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) as assistant program manager in the regional office for Central Asia and the South Caucasus, based in Tashkent/Uzbekistan (2006-2008). Afterwards, he worked at the KAS headquarters in Berlin, first as desk officer (2008-2011) and later as deputy head of the finance and project administration (2011-2013) at the department European and International Cooperation. During his time at the headquarters, he was also a member of the admission committee for the scholarship program of KAS and the working group “Young Foreign Policy Experts”.

In 2013, he became director of the office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Bangkok/Thailand. In 2015 he also became project director of the EU co-funded project “Environmental Empowerment for Grassroots and Non-State Actors” in Thailand. From 2017 until 2020, Michael Winzer was director of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Beijing office and country representative to China. Since 2021 he has been the director of the KAS-office in Budapest/Hungary. He is married and has two daughters.
