Maxim Samorukov is a Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, specialising in Russia’s relations with the states of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. Between 2015 and 2022, he was a fellow at Carnegie Moscow Centre in Russia until the Centre was closed down by the Russian authorities. Before joining Carnegie in 2015, Maxim Samorukov worked in the Russian independent media, including as an international correspondent and columnist for Slon.ru, where he covered topics including Russian foreign policy towards Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
